Technical Luncheon: Quantum Computing and Spin Qubits

⏰ April 29, 2026
📍 UPDC Lobby

Overview

Inside the Quantum Computer

DGS hosted Dr. Daniel Loss, RDIA Chair Professor of Quantum Computing and Director of the Center for Advanced Quantum Computing at KFUPM, for a Technical Luncheon on quantum computing hardware.

Dr. Loss focused on spin qubits as building blocks for next-generation quantum processors, explaining how superposition gives qubits their computing power. He also covered the engineering challenge of controlling qubits at atomic scale and recent advances that are accelerating hardware development, with implications for science, engineering and complex problem-solving.
