DGS welcomed Dr. Hassan Baioumy, Head of Research & Academia at ARGAS (Arabian Geophysical & Surveying Co.), for a Meet the Expert session on “Energy Transition Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia: A Geological & Geochemical Perspective”.
Dr. Baioumy explained why critical and transition minerals matter across construction, electronics, catalysis and energy technology, with particular attention to lithium and rare earth elements for batteries and renewables. He also reviewed the Kingdom’s iron, copper, zinc and chromium systems, the potential for new critical-mineral discoveries, and the mineralisation processes and exploration strategies behind them.
